TGV’s Fine Print Ruined My Nezha 2 Movie Plans—And I Almost Blamed Samsung Rewards

🎟️ My Dismay

I faced an issue while making a payment at TGV Cinemas, only to realize afterward that the RM5 e-voucher I redeemed using Samsung Rewards points had a fine print restriction—it cannot be used for Ne Zha 2! Nowhere in the main redemption description was this mentioned, I was blindsided!

A screenshot of the TGV Cinemas RM5 e-voucher redemption details from Samsung Rewards. The left side shows voucher details, including partner (TGV Cinemas), value (RM5), and redemption outlets (nationwide TGV Cinemas). The right side displays terms and conditions, highlighting a restriction: 'The E-Voucher is not applicable to redeem for Ne Zha 2.

🎥 Other Competitor

Only zooming into the TNC pages, I noticed it specifically said "exclude Nezha 2". I checked GSC's e-vouchers in Samsung Rewards, and they also have the restriction. This made me almost blame Samsung Rewards for the issue, but in reality, it was the Cinemas for both GSC and TGV that placed this unnecessary clause.

❌ Conclusion

TGV should not include such restrictions. If they must, it should be clearly stated upfront during redemption. Another issue? The voucher can only be redeemed online—which means you must pay an extra RM0.50 processing fee. Why not allow both online and offline redemptions?
